Credit Cards

Today we had to run a bunch of errands that included going to Target. Lily asked if she could get a toy and I said to her, "it costs $10. Do you have $10?" She said "no" and promptly changed the subject. I found something that I wanted, picked it up and put it in the cart. Lily asked, "how much is that?" I said, "It's $12.99." She asked, "Do you have $12.99?" I replied that I was going to use my credit card but that just meant I would have to pay for it later and that really using credit cards is a bad habit. I was hoping that would keep her from asking me for something else. Later we went to MacDonald's and when the cashier told me the total cost for our lunch, Lily said, "Mommy, don't use your credit card! It's a bad habit!" The cashier and the lady behind us in line started laughing and then the lady behind us with tears in her eyes asked Lily, "Who told you to say that?...Your daddy?"
By the way...I did get the new ballcock for my toilet (luckily I found it myself and didn't have to ask anyone for it) and I installed it. It seems to be working fine.

Fixing the toilet

In our house I am Mrs. Fix-it. Today the kids were spending the day with Grandma and their cousins so I decided to try and fix the toilet. A few weeks ago I changed the toilet rubber flapper and stopped the toilet from running and doing something called "phantom flushing". I know it all sounds so mysterious! But apparently I broke something in the process because water started dripping down the side of the tank when we flushed. When I took the lid off to investigate I found a fountain of water spraying up from a pipe-like thing that attaches to that floating ball thing. So of course I fiddled with it and made it worse. I made a temporary fix with some duct tape and went to the computer DIY sites to figure out what I need to do. Thank goodness, I found it! But now I have to go to Lowe's tomorrow and ask for something called a ballcock!!! Could they make plumbing any more uncomfortable???

By the way this is what the ballcock looks like...

Swimming and monster art

We had yet another day of playing in the little pool and now that the smoke has cleared and the weather is mild it was a really nice day. Alison also created some wonderful monster pictures that she asked me to share on the blog. She seems to have a real eye for color. I think she is a true artist...even if all of her art is about monsters.

Dinner with friends

Last night we had the Grummerts and Tory and Arlie Capps over for dinner. It was nice to just hang out and talk while the kids played. We are so thankful for all of our friends and thier love and support.
While I was cleaning up the house Lily asked, "Who's coming over? Cause you're cleaning a lot!" I guess I should clean more often!

Summer in Wheatland

Hey everyone!

It's about time we got a faster internet connection so we are able to jump on the cyber-highway and hook up with all our old friends. Our DSL was installed today (by me) and here I am at 11:30pm still messing around here trying to catch up on all I've missed.

Our Summer has been filled with swim lessons and hot lazy days by the blow up pool in the yard, craft projects, popsicles and endless games of go fish.

I hope all our friends are doing well and we'd love to hear from you!
